Silas Ali Agara Reaffirms Commitment to Job Creation, Youth Empowerment at National Directorate of Employment

The Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Silas Ali Agara, has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to expanding job opportunities and empowering Nigerian youths through skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, and sustainable employment programmes.

Agara made this known while speaking on the NDE’s ongoing interventions aimed at addressing unemployment and poverty across the country. According to him, the Directorate remains focused on equipping young Nigerians with practical skills that can translate into meaningful livelihoods and long-term economic stability.

He explained that the NDE’s programmes are designed to respond to current labour market realities, particularly the growing need for self-reliance and small-scale enterprise development among youths and women.

“Our focus is to ensure that Nigerians are not only trained but also supported to become productive contributors to the economy,” Agara said. “Employment generation remains a critical pillar for national development and social stability.”

The Director-General further emphasized that the agency is strengthening partnerships with stakeholders, including state governments, private sector players, and media organisations, to enhance public awareness and improve programme reach nationwide.

Observers note that under Agara’s leadership, the NDE has intensified efforts toward inclusive employment policies, with renewed attention on vocational training, reskilling, and grassroots economic empowerment.

The National Directorate of Employment was established to design and implement programmes that combat unemployment and promote wealth creation, particularly among young people and vulnerable groups.
